About our workshops
IMAGEN hosts intimate workshops led by internationally recognised photographers. Through image-making, editing and sequencing, participants deepen their practice in a setting that encourages exploration, thoughtful dialogue and new perspectives.
Intimate in scale and personalised to participants, each workshop offers close guidance and space to develop individual interests, projects and ways of seeing.
To support emerging photographic voices, IMAGEN offers one or two places to aspiring young photographers entirely free of charge, depending on the size of each workshop. Awarded on the strength of submitted portfolios, these places recognise exceptional work and a distinctive photographic vision.
Over five days, each workshop offers time to engage closely with a photographer’s approach while developing an individual body of work. Making photographs, revisiting existing projects and discussing images together become opportunities to question familiar habits and discover new directions.
Programme curation
The IMAGEN programme is curated by Maria Isari, whose career brings together a lifelong photographic practice and more than 25 years at the helm of Isaris Press as its founder and CEO.
The leading photo agency in Greece representing international agencies and photographers, Isaris Press established a connection between the Greek photographic landscape and voices from abroad. Through her leadership, Maria developed an extensive understanding of the industry, complemented by her own enduring engagement with making images.
At IMAGEN, this dual perspective informs the selection of photographers and the curatorial direction of the workshops. Her approach places individual vision at the heart of the programme, creating opportunities for close engagement with different photographic practices and the people behind them.
